Elon becomes School of Record for Accademia Europea di Firenze in Florence, Italy

The new agreement enhances Elon’s relationship with the Italian university that stretches back to 2008.

Elon University has expanded its partnership with Accademia Europea di Firenze to become the Florence, Italy, university’s School of Record.

President Leo Lambert, left, and Aloisio Sotero, president of the Academia Europea Di Firenze sign documents making Elon the School of Record for the Italian university.
As School of Record, Elon will issue Elon transcripts to students from other “home” institutions who study at the Accademia Europea di Firenze and desire a school of record transcript.

The expanded relationship will assure continued high academic standards for education at the Accademia Europea di Firenze and ensure that undergraduates from both institutions have academically rich experiences and receive proper credit for the completion of academic work.

Additionally, the new school of record relationship will promote collaboration between faculty and staff of the two universities, including teacher training opportunities. The universities will explore collaborations on opportunities for Life at Elon participants and Elon alumni, and will explore the possibility of hosting joint conferences.

President Leo Lambert signed a memorandum of understanding and the underlying school of record agreement during a July visit to Florence, where he met with Accademia Europea di Firenze President Aloisio Sotero and the university’s senior staff. Joining Lambert was his wife, Laurie, as well as Woody Pelton, dean of global education.

Elon has been a partner with the Accademia Europea di Firenze since 2008, with Elon offering study abroad programs at the Italian university in the fall and spring.
